You old Chestnut

An Old Chestnut_ An old hackneyed joke, one that has been over-used. 'His speech was full of old chestnuts. People in the audience groaned at each one.'

Ann Swan's study of the horse chestnut in pencil and coloured pencil is a great way to start this research. So much detail!

This water colour by Diana Brass really captures the Horse Chestnut. I also admire the context of the branch that she has chosen to include.

Jos Van Riswick's  oil painting of the chestnut is remarkable, and something that i will find useful in my sketching no doubt, this angle is great.

Burtuch's illustrations are again something i will draw upon in reference perhaps in my sketchbook work... This layout is very 1920s botanical illustration isn't it?!

And once again, another great study of the subject by Natalie Toms and her detailed black and white illustrations relating to the context that the pods are found in.

Having collected and finalised my imagery here is the card below in the template i hope to continue with. I have chosen to do this because of the success the last range had with peers and tutors, thus not wanting to deviate too far. Note that the text is in the same fashion as the previous card range, adding continuity:

Here is the front and inside of the envelope developed and adapted from the previous card range project. I have changed the imagery to suit and complement this particular card. I am sticking with this design because it works most effectively and was a success previously.
