When In Rome

When In Rome, Do as The Romans Do_ You should adopt the manners and customs of the people you are living with. First said in a slightly different form by St Ambrose: 'When i am in Milan, i do as they do in Milan. But when i go to Rome, i do as Rome does!'

Starting the research surrounding art and visual Roman strength i will begin with this painting of ancient Rome. It captures the ruins of temples and columns alike, and they way of living. This however, as stated in my sketchbooks, could be misconstrued for ancient Greece... Its a fine line. I need something else that Rome offers.

Perfect, just what im after; the Roman Centurion. This piece of wall art is very clever, and i think i may focus on the recognisably famous centurion helmet.

Mark Zug has painted this Roman battle scene which clearly depicts the helmets. Ideal for what im looking to reference.

Although from Clip art, another ideal reference image it is. A take on the helmet from a more unserious angle.

Having collected and finalised my imagery here is the card below in the template i hope to continue with. I have chosen to do this because of the success the last range had with peers and tutors, thus not wanting to deviate too far. Note that the text is in the same fashion as the previous card range, adding continuity:

Here is the front and inside of the envelope developed and adapted from the previous card range project. I have changed the imagery to suit and complement this particular card. I am sticking with this design because it works most effectively and was a success previously.
